You could describe this Omaha holiday home as a machine for living in – only that fails to do justice to the warmth and humanity of the design.
The surprises start with the huge white lacquered door. There’s no handle, just a pad with a single button. Press it and an automated pivot gently opens the door. The entire structure is shuttered in louvres that are fully adjustable to vary the levels of light or privacy. The effect is clean and airy, with a hint of the space age. Thick walls contain cavity sliders, with the doors softly receding into the wall as you walk through. Large expanses of glass provide a stunning vista of the beach but can be easily shuttered for a lock-it-and-leave simplicity.
Everywhere you look, precise angles and subtle details highlight the quality of the construction. Building a home such as this, with its combination of technology and elegance, was a rare challenge.
